Issue No.8

23 - April

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY FCBT
By Ryan Watts

26 - May 29 - July 11 31st - Aug -11 31st Oct - 11

I was just trying to work out which of our news items to prioritise this month. Then I recalled that Anna has been in Thailand for the last fortnight, and will be away for another week yet. Good news or bad news? Good news - firmly good news - and good riddance too.

I haven't finished with my causes for celebration, by the bye. Our sister pub, the Fat Cat Brewery Tap, are about to celebrate their first anniversary. Congratulations to Mark and Laura on making such a success of their first year in their first pub. Creating such a friendly atmosphere takes dedication, which is precisely what they have given to the Brewery Tap. All the same, though - and I think they'd admit this - they'd be nothing without those pork pies...

Moving on to beer news, our trial of Fat Cat Hell Cat, in the style of the Oakham Brewery's Inferno and Yakima Gold, proved very popular. We'll be bringing it back to our cellar very soon, so if you tried it - and particularly if you haven't tried it - keep an eye out for the fiery hallucinogenic pumpclip. No, the other one...

I've just remembered that Anna is in an entirely different hemisphere! Excellent!

You may or may not know that we've had a beer sale over the past two or three weeks, with various beers, including Woodforde's Wherry, selling at just £2.50 per pint. This will continue over the next month or so. With Fat Cat Bitter remaining at £2.20 per pint for the foreseeable future, I can't think of an acceptable excuse for not dropping in for a pint. Have I made myself clear?

It isn't all bluster and bullying here on West End Street, though. I am informed that we have amassed over one and a half thousand "friends" on Facebook. (That's a lot.) For those of you who remain unfamiliar, the Fat Cat Facebook page is Will's forum for grunting the names of new beers each morning, ending each time with a sulky "CHEERS." Absolutely unmissable. Join up!

Finally, the Campaign for Real Ale's Winter Ale Trail is now on, involving thirty-one pubs around Norwich and Norfolk. Complete the trail and you can claim a free t-shirt - and there is an additional prize draw for beer! I am informed that our landlord Colin once completed the Winter Ale Trail inside twenty-four hours. I'm so proud.

That's it from me. Quickly! Come in for a pint while Anna is still away!

Anna is absent from the Fat Cat! - But not for long…
